-
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Never nominated
-
Jacksonville concerts: 1984, 1987, 1990, 1994, 2005, 2014
Bottom line: They literally signed a contract in 2014 promising that they were retiring from touring, yet here they are. Singer Vince Neil has taken a lot of flak in the last few years for not having the voice he once had, and drummer Tommy Lee broke four ribs and has been playing just a few songs at earlier stops on the tour. They put on a high-energy show with lots of special effects (remember Lee’s roller-coaster drum kit from ’14?) that most acts wouldn’t want to follow.
Def Leppard
-
Gold or platinum studio albums: “On Through the Night” (1980),”High ‘n’ Dry” (1981), “Pyromania” (1982), “Hysteria” (1987), “Adrenalize” (1992), “Slang” (1996), “Euphoria” (1999)
-
Concerts played: 2,337 (per setlist.fm)
-
No. 1 songs: Six (“Photograph,” “Rock of Ages,” “Love Bites,” “Let’s Get Rocked,” “Stand Up,” “Promises”)
-
No. 1 albums: Two (“Hysteria” and “Adrenalize”)
-
Grammys: None
-
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Inducted 2019
-
Jacksonville concerts: 1983, 1987, 1993, 2005, 2006, 2015, 2017
Bottom line: Motley Crue may have louder fans, but Def Leppard has more of them and a cache of stadium-ready songs that makes them the clear headliner.
